JD Projects refurbishing property

DID YOU KNOW? ...that Inheritance Tax is payable on all estates valued above £300,000... |
Project 1 was a detached 3 bedroom 1935 bungalow - hadn't been touched since the '80's & needed a complete refurb. - it did have central heating (with a 70's back boiler!) & double glazing - so was a good one to start with. Dave was still doing his other job as well - TV/Video Engineer - so he was keep pretty busy. We moved in during Oct '02 & moved out early Feb '04 - it took longer than we hoped but still gave us confidence to buy.... Project 2 which was a 2 bedroom semi-detached bungalow on a private estate - built in 1964 & hadn't been touched since - although it did have a good sized conservatory on the back - which was south facing & was like an oven, reaching over 50 C on a sunny day! - That one took Dave five months to transform & boy was it transformed!! The estate agent said it was the best he'd seen for a long time - a great boast for the old ego! We left there on polling day, 05.05.05 & moved into.... Project 3 which was a fabby 1930's semi-detached house with 3 bedrooms & 3 reception rooms & a back garden to die for!! I loved this house (not suppose to love them....) but it was on the outskirts of town & on a busy road, so there wasn't a problem letting it go in August '06. The kitchen was very small & dated - crabby white plastic units & no room to swing a cat - never actually put Beattie (our cat) through the swinging thing - but you know what I mean... we extended into the dining room & made it a great open-plan kitchen/diner - which sold the place really & now we're in.... Project 4 was a 3 bed semi-detached bungalow by the sea - which Dave ripped to pieces - this one was built in 1971 & still had the original blue Formica kitchen & bright yellow cast-iron bathroom with matching yellow tiles & yellow woodchip walls. We had this one under wraps within 6 months & put it back on the market just before Easter '07.... Project 5 is the latest project - a single storey detached building built in 1956 as the local Post Office - it's hardly been touched since the 1980's - pretty much what we normally take-on, then.... |
