Africa '98 - 14th August - 13th September

Africa '98 began with a phone call I received in March/April 1999 from my old school buddy Chandika (also known as CD). He asked me what I was doing during the summer and I told him that I had no plans. He asked me if i'd like to go to Africa with him and I said "hmmmm....yeah !". A few e-mails, phone calls and cheques later, we were on a plane, flying to Zimbabwe!

The trip took us across 6 beautiful countries in the African continent  - Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambiya, Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya.

The highlights of the trip included "The Okavango Delta - The Lion story !", "The Zambezie Swim Team", "Bunji Jumping", "The Whacky Aussie and his Kiwi Wife", "Lake Malawi", "Zanzibar Island", "The Ngongoro Crater" and "3 rounds around the BUS !"

my intention is to write a bit about the trip and my inpressions of Africa from the little bit of it that I've seen. Hopefully, I'll do this int he not too distant future.

The trip began in Harare, Zimbabwe, to which we flew in onthe 14th of August.

We met the Tour leader, Clair and the rest of the people we were traveling with.

There were 8 of us altogether. 3 Irish Girls - Sandra, Rose and Katherine, an Aussie Babe - Jayna-Tegan, A 'Vegan' welsh couple - Kevin and Helen and the two of us.

Clair told us a little bit about what to expect, and talked about where we would be going and some of the things that we would be doing.

We spent the night in the Selous Hotel and the next moring we were introduced to Arthur - The Douple Decker bus - our home for the next four and a half weeks. !
