What is "Electroacupuncture according to Voll" (EAV)?

In short, Electroacupuncture according to Voll tunes into the body's own electro-magnetic circuits and reads weaknesses within them, thus identifying intolerances and functional disturbances.
EAV is a biophysical diagnostic method used in functional and wholistic medicine. It was developed in the 1950’s by Dr. Reinhold Voll, and introduced to the medical world in 1956. It respects and integrates the insights of the latest science, allopathic (conventional) medicine (and dentistry), principles and practice of homoeopathy and TCM (traditional Chinese Medicine).

The diagnostic system of EAV concerns itself with regulatory and control processes in the body and their disturbances. EAV is therefore used to establish the cause of acute and especially chronic disease.

 

What is EAV testing useful for?

EAV serves to identify deep-seated causes of both acute and principally chronic dis-ease. Functionally relevant areas of disturbance are identified, such as remnants of infection, areas under particular stress, environmental toxins, deficiencies, allergies, intolerances. Viruses, bacteria, parasites, dentists materials, metals, salts, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, varnishes, thinners, nutrition, all types of allergens, medication, trace elements, vitamins etc are all tested. This can be to see how bio-available they are or how tolerant the body is to them; what pathological energetic effect they have on the complex human body.

How testing works, length of appointment

The process uses a metal rod held in one hand, while a "pen" measures the resistance of that electro-magnetic circuit at acupuncture points, mainly on the hands.

Allergy testing

For a straight-forward allergy/intolerance test, after initially examining the electrical behaviour of acupuncture points in the body, various vials are tested, some in groups and some individually, to establish which substances are a problem for the person. The whole test can be completed in 30 – 45 minutes.

Whole body screen

The whole body screen also initially examines the electrical behaviour of acupuncture points in the body. The aim here is to attain an overall assessment of your current bodily energy-status and to identify areas of particular weakness or strength in energy terms. (This is called an overview-test). From here a more detailed reading can be taken, looking at each body system individually (such as the digestive system, the heart, etc) to check for areas of inflammation or degenerative processes. At this stage remedies, supplements and medication can also be tested, with a view to working out what the best treatment is (treatment test). Depending on how many areas/points of weakness there are, and on how many different medications/remedies need to be tested, a test can last anything from 30mins to 3 hours. It is therefore often necessary to have an initial appointment first, to establish a thorough medical history/anamnesis, in order to meet the expectations and discover the problems of each patient, and therefore to limit which items are tested at the next appointment.
