Welcome to The London Flute School, an exciting new holiday Flute Course for players of all standards. Guest tutors include Wissam Boustany, Mike Mower, Camilla Hoitenga, Jennifer Hutchinson, Alexander Murray, Ian Mullin, Abigail Burrows, Simon Gilliver, Jacqueline Vann. Foundation tutors are Janna Hüneke and Kate Grace.

A bit of background: In January 2009 Janna Hüneke and Kate Grace set up the Flute Ensemble of London, an adult flute choir for advanced-level adult students. The group now has a regular attendance of over 20 members. From this came the idea of a specialist flute course for flautists of all ages and levels in London.
The course takes place once a year (at present) in the Autumn Half Term.

This course will also be very useful for would-be students to prepare for auditions for entry to any of the music colleges or universities. Have an opportunity to perform and practise your auditioning techniques with professionals!

There will be parallel classes for different standards (all standards/ages are welcome):
ADVANCED: Minimum age 14, up to 70-ish(!) from approximately grade 7 & over.
INTERMEDIATE: Aged approximately 13 upwards to 70-ish from approximately grade 4 to 7.
JUNIOR: Young learners up to age 13 years; grade 3 and below.

AGE AND STANDARD MEANT AS A GUIDE ONLY. PLEASE FEEL WELCOME TO DISCUSS THESE WITH US BEFORE YOU APPLY IF YOU ARE UNSURE.
We feel that all standards of flute-player can benefit from the masterclasses and talks, but some younger children will benefit more from taking classes tailored to their age-group and standard. All standards & ages will be catered for!

We believe that London needs a course of this kind, because although there are lots of good flute courses in the UK, they are held over the summer and also out of London. The course is non-residential, which keeps the costs down. The course is organised by Janna and Kate, who have been colleagues for over 15 years working together as flautists in professional orchestras and as teachers.
