NATUROPATHY

What does a Naturopath do?

A Naturopath is the equivalent of a GP only using natural medicine and treatments to heal the patient's illness. A Naturopath will use various different diagnostic techniques to ascertain what the functional problems are, what sort of constitution the patient has. This can include, apart from a very detailed case-taking at the first consultation, EAV testing, sending e.g. stool-samples off to a lab (if there is a digestive problem), taking blood-pressure, Iridology (looking at the Iris for signs of acidity, constitutional type, etc) manual palpation of the part concerned etc.

Treatment

The type of treatment will vary according to the patient - what the illness is, and also what the patient can realistically take on board. Changes to life-style are often difficult, and Janna likes to work within her patients' abilities and to work realistically within their current life-style. She may recommend a particular type of treatment, such as acupuncture, massage or reflexology . You will very likely talk about diet and exercise. Many treatment programs involve detoxification of one sort or another - you might be given a Colon Cleanse to do, for example. You may be prescribed some dietary supplementation if required.
A large part of what a Naturopath often has to do is to teach their patients about what is best for them & their body. In today's busy lives, with so much instantly available, such as ready-meals, communication, cars, etc, many of us have lost touch with what is perhaps a more natural way of life.
