Thirty years in the business, this widely acclaimed blues-man is a real character, and no stranger to TV , National Radio (Paul Jones, etc.), major festivals (nine appearances at both Burnley and Colne Blues Festivals and counting) or the studio.

He was a founder member of R Cajun & The Zydeco Bros, appearing on their ground-breaking first album, and he has since gone on to perform extensively with the blues band, his acoustic trio (Cornbread Rough), and as a blues duo with fiddle player extraordinaire Andy Lingard.
Recently he has been joined on-stage by the rest of the family - daughter Ursula plays the fiddle, wife Carmen Piranha sings and plays percussion, and his son Jake plays bass.

He is highly knowledgeable about blues music, and gives lectures and workshops around the country; he is currently running a series of evening classes on the history of the blues.

ZZ's vast knowledge of and deep devotion to the blues shine through his work;
his dynamic stage presence, blistering harmonica and compelling vocals unite with surreal and off-the-wall humour to make up one of the truly great performers on the blues scene today.

He uses Tombo harmonicas, Hofner and Levin guitars, and a lot of shirts.
