Misc: 1841 Census of
Wrexham
The
1841 Census Returns for the whole of the Wrexham Registration District
are lost and are not in the
HO107 (Home Office) series at
the Public Record Office. They therefore do not appear on the famililiar
films of the 1841 Census much used by family historians and
others. An original census book has,
however, survived for the town of Wrexham and this was spotted,
together with other documents of local
interest, on sale at a local bookshop some years ago by Miss Molly
Preen. She deposited them at
Denbighshire Record Office and a photocopy of the Census book was made
available to Clwyd Family
History
Society to transcribe and index. (June 1998)
