Both Mark Alleyne and Ian Harvey played for their country in a one-day international on Wednesday.
Alleyne was selected for England's second game with South Africa after a comprehensive England victory in the first match.
South Africa batted first but were pegged back by the England bowlers. Alleyne played a crucial role, coming on in the middle of the innings. He kept it tight as England applied the pressure and bowled all of his ten overs to finish with 1-42.
204 didn't look to be enough for South Africa but after England started well, Hick and Knight fell in quick succession. Alleyne came in at number 6 with the score on 86-4. Alleyne reached twelve before being dismissed but as England began to lose hope, Chris Read hit a quick 26 to give England a chance. However, Darren Gough could not hit the four required off the last ball and England lost by one run. Ian Harvey's comback for Australia against India was not a performance to remember. He was run out for 0 without facing a ball as Australia posted a huge score of 329. Harvey opened the bowling but did not take a wicket in his eight overs which went for 39 runs. India were bowled out for 177. |
