Gloucestershire CCC have announced a modest operating profit of £39,110 for the year ending 30 September 1999.
The figure compares with a loss of £21,817 in the previous year. However, during 1999 Gloucestershire hosted two successful World Cup matches in Bristol and their share of finals gate money brought a large 23% increase in income. The gate money from the two matches at Lord's brought £128,590 to the club - just £2,000 less than they made from all the other matches put together. Income from members' subscriptions increased by 17%.
The profit was not larger because expenditure rose to a similar extent. Players' bonuses, County Ground operating costs and marketing costs increased significantly.
Funding for a new Indoor Cricket School has been secured and development will begin on 1 July to be opened by 1 October. Planning permission has been gained for outdoor nets on one of the tennis courts. Work is planned to start in March 2000. The Annual General Meeting will be held on 7 March. |
