England are returning home from Zimbabwe after the last of the One-Day Internationals was washed out.
Alleyne did not play in Zimbabwe where England won the four match series 3-0. He did, though, play in five of England's six matches in the Standard Bank Triangular Series in South Africa. Alleyne finishes the tour with modest batting and bowling averages but in winning the man-of-the-match award in England's final qualifying match against South Africa, he proved he can compete at the highest level. He played the one warm-up match as wicketkeeper. Alleyne will now return home and join up with the rest of the Gloucestershire squad on 1 March when pre-season training begins. They will go on a pre-season tour of South Africa at the end of March during which they will play the winners of South Africa's domestic one-day competition - the Standard Bank Cup - in a floodlit challenge match. When they return home they will play two friendlies away at Kent and Middlesex on 5-7 April and 11-12 April respectively. The season begins on 15 April in Cardiff. Ian Harvey - who is yet to play for Australia in New Zealand - will finish the season with Victoria on 21 March. He might be selected for Australia's three ODI's in South Africa on 12-16 April which would rule him out of the start of the season.
