Gloucestershire have offered three players new two-year contracts but will part company with a fourth player.
Overseas player Ian Harvey, bowler James Averis and batsman Dominic Hewson have been offered contracts but former Cambridge University player Imraan Mohammed misses out as his one-year contract has not been extended.
Mohammed, son of Sadiq, scored a double century in first-class cricket in Pakistan and made many good scores for Cambridge University whilst studying there. However, he lost form at the start of the season and couldn't get a place in the first XI. He was selected for the first championship game of the season but didn't get a bat as rain ruined the match. He made three other first-class performances scoring 71 runs averaging 11.8. Along with a lack of runs his fielding was thought to be below standard.
Ian Harvey has been offered a two year contract with the condition that he is not selected for both the Ashes and one-day squads next season. If he is only in the one-day squad, he will still be available for most of the season for Gloucestershire. James Averis has been offered a two year extention after hard work last winter earnt him a regular place in the one-day side bowling at the death with Harvey. Dominic Hewson has been more consistant this season with the bat and has claimed an a place opening the batting in the Championship. He has also been offered a two year deal. |
