Gloucestershire are in talks with Leicestershire batsman Michael Sutliff with a view to offering him a one year contract.
The 24 year-old left-hander is yet to make an appearance for Leicestershire first XI and could fill the space left by Imraan Mohammed who has been released. Gloucestershire are interested in a left handed batsman to distrupt bowlers, especially in one-day cricket, as Jack Russell is the only regular left-hander.
Leicestershire second XI won the one-day AON Trophy this season with Sutliff opening the batting, although he made a duck in the final. He had a trial with Gloucestershire earlier in the season and averaged over 70. In the recent 2nd XI Championship game against Hampshire 2nd XI at their new West End ground, he carried his bat for 90 in the first innings as Gloucestershire were bowled out for 191 and then scored 56 in the second innings.
Sutliff impressed on his trial and so will be offered a one-year contract. |
