Channel 4 and Sky have won cricket television
rights after a £103 million deal with the ECB.
The closing stages of the NatWest Trophy will
be shown on Channel 4 and Sky will show the Super Cup as well as the National
One Day League and crucial stages of the Championship.
Channel 4 will also show an hour long magazine
cricket programme at the weekend covering all levels of progress. The
terrestrial station will show all but one of the summer tests until 2002 and the
One Day Internationals will be shown on Sky.
Channel 4 won the deal from the BBC because of
their 'lively and invigoration approach to coverage'. It might mean more county
cricket but we will have to wait and see. |
