ALLEYNE GIVEN ENGLAND BOOST

Mark Alleyne has been named in a provisional England squad for the Carlton and United One Day Series.

The triangular competition involving England, Australia and Sri Lanka begins on January 10th and is being held in Australia.

Mark Alleyne and Leicestershire's Vince Wells were the only two uncapped players named in the 23-man squad which will be reduced to 18 for the tounament.

The selectors were looking for versitile batsmen who can bowl. The selection of Alleyne shows that he is still in their thoughts after the World Super 8's he was to captain England in, was cancelled. If Alleyne makes the final squad, he has every chance of being in England's World Cup squad.
