Mark Alleyne hit a half century and took three wickets on his England debut in Australia.

England's newly arrived tourists along with a few from the Ashes squad played their first game together in Australia ahead of the triangular tournament with Australia and Sri Lanka. England batted first in the match against Queensland Country and made 281 in 50 overs. Alleyne made 52 off 49 balls batting at number seven boosting the visitor's score. He ended the innings with a six.

Gloucestershire's captain didn't stop there taking 3 for 31 off five overs to set his benefit year off to a good start as England raced to victory with Queensland Country all out for 228.
