Chairman of selectors David Graveney has
hinted that Mark Alleyne could be included in the England World Cup squad.
In an interview on local radio Graveney
heavily hinted that Mark Alleyne could be the utility player in the 15 man
squad for the World Cup later on this year.
Graveney said: "Alec Stewart will be the
main wicket keeper but you can't afford to have two and Mark has experience of
keeping wicket."
If Alleyne does get an England call up in May
it could be seen as a sign that players from the unfashionable clubs are finally
getting international recognition.
The players in the World Cup squad may be
contracted to the ECB which could mean they are unavailable for their counties
for up to two months at the beginning of the season |
