Mark Alleyne marked his full England debut
with a superb run out against Australia.
England batted first in the day-night match
but struggled on their way to 178-8 off their 50 overs. Alleyne came in at
number seven with the score on 87-5. He was soon on his way back with England
in trouble having been run out for 2.
The rain arrived to save England and the match
was reduced to 36 overs with Australia needing 153 to win.
The Gloucestershire captain bowled one over
and went for 7 runs but his main contribution was a superb run out. Fielding at
mid-on hie brilliantly stopped the ball and hit the stumps with his throw to run
out Australian captain Shane Warne.
Needing 11 off their last over, Australia were
unable to reach their target and England took two points in the triangular
competition. |
