Gloucestershire's move to sign Derbyshire batsman Kim Barnett is in doubt after a decision by the ECB.

The decided that they would not move Gloucestershire's recent signing Jeremy Snape from List One to List Two. The county are only allowed to make 1 List One signing but they will now try to get Barnett moved to List Two.

Another possible problem could be the result of the power struggle at Derbyshire with Domonic Cork wanting to keep Barnett.

• Names that have been mentioned as possible replacements for Courtney Walsh include former Somerset player Shane Lee, Andrew Symonds, Australia A's Ian Harvey and Matthew Nicholson who played in the Melbourne Test against England. 1st XI Coach John Bracewell is in Australia trying to secure a signiture.
