Gloucestershire's decision on which overseas
player to sign has been held up by the chance of Kim Barnett joining the county.
Barnett is expected to ask to be released from
his contract at Derbyshire opening the way for him to join Gloucestershire as a
List Two player.
If Barnett does not move to Bristol,
Gloucestershire are likely to sign Andrew Symonds who played for the club for
two seasons.
However, if Barnett is allowed to leave,
Gloucestershire will be looking to sign someone with more bowling experience
such as Shaun Young or Ian Harvey.
Gloucestershire had looked at signing Shane
Lee but he is likely to be involved in Australia's World Cup effort.
Mark Alleyne and first XI coach John Bracewell
are in Australia and have had talks with the likely candidates. A decision is
expected within the next couple of weeks. |
