ALLEYNE FLYS HOME AFTER TRAGIC NEWS

Mark Alleyne is on his way home from Australia after the sudden death of his father in Barbados.

56 year-old Euclid Alleyne died in a car accident. He played club cricket in Barbados and in Tottenham, London where Mark was born. Eucid played a big part in encouraging Mark to take up cricket.

The Gloucestershire captain will fly back to London before leaving for Barbados where he was educated at Harrison College.

Mark Alleyne played in four of England's ten qualifying games ahead of the best-of-three final. He finished the tour with a batting average of 25.3 after his 38 not out in the final match.

The popular batsman will now be hoping of selection for the World Cup squad which will be named next month. It is likely either him or Vince Wells will be selected.
