49 year-old Phillip August has been made redundant by the club. He has worked at the County Ground for 12 years after playing as a wicketkeeper for Bedfordshire and then moving into cricket administration.

It is a surprising decision in the middle of the season but his role has been gradually reduced over the years and there is now a chief executive, a director of coaching and a first team coach leaving little left for a cricket secretary. The parting was described as 'amicable'.
