TOP PLAYERS OFFERED NEW CONTRACTS

Three of Gloucestershire's top players have been offered new three year contracts by the club.

Mike Smith has signed a deal that will keep him at the county until the end of the year 2000. The 30 year old took 83 wickets last season and made an England appearance against Australia. His contract was due to run out at the end of the 1998 season but Gloucestershire wanted to make sure that they keep their best players.

Mark Alleyne and Martyn Ball have also been offered three-year deals. These three players form the centre of the team and Gloucestershire want to secure their services as they look to the future. Mark Alleyne was one of the top all rounders in the country last season and Martyn Ball's off-breaks pick up many wickets.

Elsewhere, fast bowler Kamran Sheeraz has signed a one-year contract and wicket keeper Reggie Williams has been upgraded to List One. Jim Harris has been elected as the Club's Treasurer.
