GLOUCESTERSHIRE PIONEER NEW 'MATCHSAVER' COVER

Gloucesteshire have purchased a new pitch covering system to keep the square dry. They have had it on trial and have been pleased with its performance.

The Matchsaver cover is stored in a roll along the boundary and can be rolled out quickly to prevent the square getting wet. It is equally easy to remove and means that play can restart sooner and there is extra time for the players to train in wet weather. The old covers had to be replaced regularly and took a long time to take on and off.

The system has been developed by a Bristol company and is the first of its kind in the country.

  • Gloucestershire's match with Bangladesh was washed out. They are visiting England in preparation for next year's World Cup
