Gloucestershire will be known as the 'Gladiators' in the AXA Life League this season.

This name follows other counties re-naming themselves last season. Gloucestershire would have chosen the 'Lions' because of the club shield but that name has already been taken by the Surrey 'Lions'.

There was a competition to choose the name but Gladiators was the most popular name. Hopefully the new name will bring some luck to Gloucestershire in the competition after not finishing in the top ten since 1992.

The Gloucestershire Gladiators' first game is against Glamorgan on April 19th.
