JIM McINTYRE
I have painted professionally since 1980, working originally from the village of
Tongue in Sutherland. While living there, I painted the North Highland landscape through
all the seasons. As a contrast, I also spent time in Edinburgh painting the old and new
town. This was an interesting subject change, offering a whole new perspective.
In December 1993, I moved from Sutherland to Pitlochry. Since then I have been painting
extensively in and around Perthshire. I paint mainly in watercolour. My aim is not only to
capture the scene but also the atmosphere prevailing at the time. My wife and I also run a
picture framing workshop. This offers a professional service covering all aspects of
framing.
Over the years, I have been asked to accept many commissions. A painting of a beautiful
Scottish scene or a particular place or house can give great pleasure, particularly to
those who may have emigrated from Scotland or whose forebears did so in times past. So if
you have a favourite view or a place in Scotland of special importance to your family, why
not get me to paint it for you? An original Scottish watercolour makes an ideal gift for a
birthday, wedding or retirement.
I can paint a subject from a photograph, postcard or an illustration from a
publication. I can change the time of year, the time of day and weather conditions. I can
paint landscapes, seascapes, town and village scenes, a particular building or house,
marine subjects, etc.
Information:
- I can paint the subject of your choice in any size.
- I can paint from a photograph, postcard or published illustration.
- The price range starts at £125.00, which represents excellent value for an original
watercolour.
- The actual cost is based on the complexity of the subject and whether I will have to
undertake additional research or travelling.
- I will discuss price with you properly before starting work.
- The final painting can be delivered rolled up in a postal tube or mounted and backed and
packed for posting.
- I can provide a finished, framed painting, but this is not suitable for posting because
glass rarely survives the journey.
