Doctor Aadam Aziz

Aadam Aziz is the grandfather of this tale and which begins, significantly, upon his return from study in Germany. He has come into contact with 'foreign' ideas through his meetings with Oskar and Ilse Lubin which have undermined his certainty in Islam.

He tries to return to Kashmir upon his death and mysteriously a chunk of the Prophet's hair goes missing at the same time. Did he steal it? Does he find God?
