"One of the finest exponents of Brazilian Jazz this side of the Atlantic..........an unforgettable live experience.....Time Out" Blues & Soul SIRIUS B: Baseline POSTO NOVE Sirius
B is an exciting British group that specializes in recreating the
intoxicating sun-drenched sounds of Brazilian music.
'............. Jazzwise POSTO NOVE…BASLOO6CD SIRIUS B is a British -based band whose love affair with all things Brazilian has captured audiences on the festival circuit. They have been described as the U.K's finest exponents of Brazilian rhythmns and play sunny bossa nova and samba grooves by the old masters as well as their own compositions-their originals being more appealing than the cover versions on the album. Azhar's singing on Savage World -a fiery samba- shows great affinity and subtley-with Sam Tomba's virtuosic percussion and Kevin Figes playing charming flute as he does throughout the album. The same goes for Fallen Angel, a toe tapping samba reggae and the charming 'Under the Stars' , which lopes romantically in a tribute to star-struck love. 'Um Jeitinho de Joe' features Matt Sibley's soprano sax and Joe's keys in a style which harks back to Wayne and Herbie's lush duets on 'Native dancer'----Tom Barlow

Hi guys (a very tired DJ Seymour here! ). I was at the 'Jazz Cafe' last night where you guys were breaking peoples hearts (as usual). I received a copy of your new album "Posto Nove". The reason why I am so tired is because when I got home at 3:ooam, I did not sleep until 7 because I could not put your cd away. "Savage World" for me, is one of the most beautiful compositions I've heard since Nascimentos "Veracruz". I am so happy that finally I can hear this track at home (and not have to recreate my own version in my head over and over again, does this sound sad or what?) What inspired you to create such beautiful melodies on this track? They say grown men do not cry, well I did listening to this track, and I am not ashamed to admit it, so there. "Posto Nove" really took me back to Ipanema. Again those melodies........ If you put together every beautiful bossa nova that was written and mixed them, the result would be " Under the stars", enough said ! "Prima Vera" blew me away. It is such a sensual tune, but Joes keyboard solo was played with a sensitivity which is very rare amongst keyboard players of the highest calibre. This is such a complete album from such a complete band. For me, you guys are the best thing that's come out of the UK, in regards to Brazilian/ Jazz. Thank you for touching me in such a special way, and keep 'shining' within the constellation of Sirius B. Anyway back to the CD......... |
Anders Hedbanger anders4@excite.co.uk Hooray! For years Jazz and latin music has been very much maligned and misunderstood, but at last, like a shining beacon through a fog of dull rock music and euro-pop, Sirius B have launched an aural attack on the bigoted ears of music listeners throughout the country. Having been brought up on speed metal in Sao Paulo I know what I am talking about, and these guys kick ass! Hear me now move over Jay K and your lame ass funksters, Sirius B are in the House. Camilo Franco camilosol@hotmail.com Awesome vibes!Mais uma vez a musica volta a evoluir com a modernizacao do passado! My brazilian background is there in each beat! You know, where the blue sky meets the ocean gordon 'funkmaster' flex funkmaster5@hotmail.com You guys rock, especially your bass player. I particularly like men that look like Quentin Tarantino. Your music is the beat of my life. You brought Leeds to life with your onslaught of phunky beats. This is the music of the deprived shanty-town kids. I love you guys |
