The Donor Car

Donor Car Arriving

I bought a donor Renault 5 Gordini Turbo to help with the restoration of my Renault 5 Gordini Turbo. The donor car came without engine but was virtually complete otherwise. Many spare parts were included with the car.

The car is a 1983 Renault 5 Gordini Turbo and from the V5 (vehicle registration document) the car had engine number 9 in it! It's a shame we don't still have that engine. The engine in the silver car is number 902, so that is still an early engine. The engine type for both cars is C6J-750 - this is the later R5 Gordini Turbo engine. The only difference I can tell at the moment is that the engine has a knock sensor which tells the ignition module to retard the ignition if knocking is detected.

The previous owner had started to restore the car, fixing the rust, etc. but gave up and sold the car as a rolling shell. The car was last on the road in 1993.

No engine!
Look! No engine. This is a bit disappointing because I'm not too sure about the condition of the engine in the silver car. It did mean that the donor car was very cheap.

Interior
The interior of the car - a bit dirty and worn, but many parts worth saving.

I now have quite a lot of spare parts! Some interesting parts are:

NEW! Picures of the car being dismantled.
