Software Recommendations

AVAST! Anti-virus   (Great anti-virus program - free version available for home use)

PCInspector (This is a fantastic free bit of software - I've used it many times to save peoples files)

Sequoia View (If your hard disk is getting full this is the ideal tool to find out which files and folders are taking up the most room, it has a unique and intuitive way of displaying the disk structure - Much better than the normal tree views where you have to "drill" down)

DocMem (This memory checking program is free, many similar programs cost hundreds of pounds. You need to create the original disk on a Microsoft OS that can make bootable disks - Once you have created the bootable floppy you can use it to check the Memory of any PC with a floppy disk)

Synchromagic (A great way of doing automatic disk to disk backups of large numbers of files, has all the bells and whistles you need  -it can be a bit fiddly to set up initially. Not free, but inexpensive for what it does. )
