Finished in the unusual 'beige antellope metallic' colour, the car is nicknamed fudge because of the similarities in colour. The prefix on the number plate is also FDG! The car looks different to many early R25's from the front because it has front fog lights which certainly enhance it's looks and give it a more sporty edge. The bodywork is very good on this car (diamonds don't rust!).
-Registered in Gloucester (Hartland Motors) in June 1987.
-56,000 miles on the clock by Jan 1989.
-1994, car passes 100,000 miles.
-Feb 1995-Clutch replaced (112,000 miles) as it was getting difficult to use and not easy for learner drivers to master. I started driving the car whilst having lessons (in a Renault Clio of course!)
-April 99, now has 144,000 miles and really is going better than ever! Brother now having driving lessons, in a new Renault Clio.
-January 2000, 151,000 miles, nothing to report.
April 2000, 153,000 miles. Service completed. O/S/F driveshaft replaced. New Front disc brakes and pads. N/S/R Wheel cylinder replaced. Total cost £315.
August 2000, Been doing relatively few miles recently, having to cut back as much as possible due the cost of fuel which is approaching 90p a litre for unleaded. 158,000 miles though and due to have a couple of new tyres on the front-the last Michelin energy's have a good 35,000 miles under there treads!
This particular model has beige cloth seats which have proved both comfortable and hard wearing. They are also warmer than the leather seats in many models although the look and aroma of leather is very alluring. I have a leather steering wheel from a TXI Executive which is much nicer to use and better to look at than the standard wheel as well as adjustable leather headrests and a front central armrest. I replaced the bog spec Phillips stereo with a rather posh SONY head unit in 1997.
I have recently added a SONY XR-C650 RDS-W in a wood veneer finish. This particular stereo has finger tip remote control, CD and MD compatibility and a 4x40 watt amplifier. It is extremely well built and worthy of recommendation for it's quality and superior sound. A pair of 200W 6x9 Sony four way speakers have also been added in the front doors!
