How We Started
So we did and we enlisted the help of a Scout Leader from 3rd Hale called Duncan Goldine. The three of us together put on one the best Patrol Leaders Training course that the District have ever seen. It was a weekend course held at 4th Hale HQ. The Scouts loved the course and Hugh on his visit could see that the gamble he made was the right one. After that course in 1984 the three of us nicked name ourselves the Musketeers and start to plan another course the following year. Again in a pub we enlisted the help of Mike Timmins who became the forth member of the team. Duncan Goldine left the District to join the church and along the years we have enlisted other Leaders to join our team. Hugh Davies became DC and then in 1995 handed the job over. At that time we invited him to become a member of the team. 1st March 1998 was the day we invited Mark Preston to become a member of the Musketeers. Over the years he has travelled along way to come and help us on our courses. |

The
team start by accident in 1984. I was the Scout Leader for 8th Altrincham at the
time and as good Scout Leaders do, I use to go for a pint after Troop night. I
started to get to know Colin Ellies who at the time was ASL for 4th Hale. Both
of us decided to run a join Patrol Leaders Training Course which was arranged
for later that year. Hugh Davies, who was our ADC Scouts at time, got to hear
about this course and realising that it may be a good investment for the
District, told us that he would like us to open it up to the district.
