More Cheshire Curiosities
THE second in
a trilogy of videos about unusual items or locations in Cheshire, "More Cheshire Curiosities",
covers the new Cheshire East local government area.
Well, the northern
part, to be precise. The first video
covered South Cheshire before the local government changes were announced.
This means that towns in the
east of South Cheshire (or the southern part of Cheshire East) are not
repeated in the new video.
It runs for around 56
minutes, and is in colour, 4:3 ratio, and PAL format.
The price is £10.
All proceeds are for the
restoration fund of
St Mary's Parish Church, Nantwich.
Places covered are:
Alderley Edge, Astbury, Bollington, Englesea Brook, Gawsworth, Goostrey,
Jodrell Bank, Lower Peover, Marston, Nether Alderley, Pott Shrigley,
Prestbury, Rostherne, Saltersford, Siddington and Tatton Park. There is
also a visit to Macclesfield.

Death of historian who helped us
WE were saddened to hear of the death of
Knutsford historian, Joan Leach MBE, who had advised us on some aspects
of the town and Elizabeth Gaskell when we made the DVD.
Joan died suddenly on September 30,
2010,
after a short illness. Her funeral service was held on October 13 at
Brook Street Chapel, Knutsford, in the grounds of which the Gaskell
family are interred.
Martin Leach said: "Mum
lived her life dedicated to the love of history and to Elizabeth
Gaskell. She gave herself willingly to the cause and gave her life to
her friends and contacts through the years, selflessly doing it all for
the joy of the giving and for making others happy."
