What's New

(Last Updated 19th August 2005)

This page is intended to give you a quick overview of things that are going on in the Band and the pipe band world

An excellent result for the Band at the Worlds, finishing ahead of another local band Torphichen and Bathgate to become

Grade 2 World Champions!

Pipe Major Ian G Duncan with the Worlds Trophy

This years World’s Grade 2 was a tough competition with a number of overseas bands in contention as well as the usual Scottish and Irish Bands.

A few of the usual judging anomalies were there for all to see, but thankfully we came out on top.  Some of the younger guys in the band were on cloud 9 for day’s afterwards.

The result at the World’s puts us 7 points clear at the top of the Grade 2 Champion of Champions table.

So it’s up to the Grading Committee of the RSPBA now as to whether we’re promoted to Grade 1 or not.

Next week see’s the final major of the year at Cowal.  It’s back to the Medley after three championships of MSR, so the guys and girls have been working hard to get it back to the perfection expected by the Ian and Alex.

Let’s hope for a fair panel of judges, and some decent weather, and it should be an excellent end to the season.
