This really is the stuff that dreams are made of!

A couple of frame-grabs from a publicly unseen film, from an excellent video, "Strictly T.T." produced by Spence Brothers Productions, of Northern Ireland,

contact Noel Spence, 22 Drumkirk Road, Comber, County Down, Northern Ireland. BT23 5ZY.

Tel: 01247 878589 and the price is £15, postage paid. Please mention the website.

There are only a few fleeting glances of the T.T Ulsters, but oh to have been there and seen them race through the streets, the interviewees were and remember them. However, excepting the use of a Tardis, for the rest of us this is the nearest we'll ever get. To watch the antics of the passenger, leaning over the driver like a racing sidecar passenger is a joy to behold. I must admit I nearly fell out of my seat. The whole of the rest of the video is great too, not least of which the drive in a T.T. Type Ulster, through some lovely Irish roads.

And if you thought that was all :-

Now for a bit of a "scoop", well I think so anyway as these pictures are new to me and some are absolutely stunning

They come via Kevin Barnes and his father and that should give you a clue as Kevin's grandfather was J.D.Barnes, the Austin racing driver, who raced with his brother Stanley in the Ards T.T.

Many thanks to Kevin and his dad.

Austin No. 4 in the 1929 T.T at the Dundonald Hairpin, Donald (J.D.) Barnes driving.

I quote from how Kevin's picture was captioned :-

"In error, Gordon England called in the team, for

one mass pit replenishment, which cost Austin a

T.T win and let Rudi Caracciola through". "Donald Barnes

had got the T.T victory in sight".

I think we have now forgiven G.E. for that, as we know, he certainly held the teams together.

Kevin says :-

Donald Barnes took part in 10 T.T's in total for Austin,

Triumph, MG, and Singer, 1 more than Stirling Moss and I think a record.

More to follow hopefully,
