A Car?
Well. not just any car, but GW82, an ultra-rare survivor
of a T.T. Ulster. It was a car of this type which won the 1930 500
Mile race at Brooklands and also took part in the Ards TT races. They
had a 11 gallon fuel tank under the front bulkhead, the filler cap
being positioned under the folded windscreen, the other cap for oil.
Just in front of the radiator cap, fitted instead of the Austin badge
is a holder for a pendant for relay racing at Brooklands. These cars
were supercharged and developed about 46bhp. Having clocked about 78
mph once or twice in my car, I am full of admiration for those brave
drivers who averaged more than this for 500 miles!
