Founded in 1934, the aims of the Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC) were to encourage the preservation and use of those cars which were produced up to the 31st December 1930. These vehicles, it was decided, were from an age when quality was better than quantity, which was certainly becoming the norm by then. The club has stuck rigidly to these ideals ever since, although certain 30's cars classed as "Post Vintage Thoroughbreds" have been allowed and more recently a discussion of allowing "Cars that a discerning person" might purchase have broken the mold somewhat. Whilst my "real" Ulster would be accepted without question, the Ulster-type special would have to meet rather more stringent criteria to gain entry, which fortunately it did. The scrapping of original bodies to make sports versions is deplored and quite rightly not allowed, although this was commonplace years ago. The club has a very active and thriving membership, who are not scared of exercising their cars to the utmost of their abilities, car and driver alike. A trip to Vintage Silverstone or Prescott will demonstrate this point very well!
