USE THIS WEBSITE TO REPORT YOUR FAULTY SANDISK SD CARDS: http://www.sandisk.com/tech/s_central.asp

It appears that a number of users have received cards from Sandisk coded either AR0307NS or AR0307NC (for 256mb) or AK0307NT (for 128mb) that work..   I call these SD cards N-Series cards (7th letter is N) and the old cards L-Series (guess why!)

Info from TGreenstein - Review team member on Aximsite.. (14th August 2003)

Ted received two replacement SD cards from Sandisk - both N-Series AR0307NS.  He's happy with them so far!  However, on the "Item Description" on the shipping label, it says "SDSDB-256, Dell, SD w/Custom Barcode".  Interesting!

Good info, Ted - thanks!

Info from Sandisk - use this to try and get a replacement card ... (received 25th July 2003)

This doesn't prove that Sandisk's working card is a A_0307N_ card, I have asked them and I'm awaiting their response..

Here is probably the best info regarding Sandisk's new AR0307NS 256mb SD card:

Jon,

My name's Wayne Pfeiler. I've been following your work on the SD card problem for over a month now, even before I got my axim in early June. I wanted to let you know about the success I've had with a replacement Sandisk SD card from
Dell. On Friday last week I called up Dell customer care, requesting a replacement Sandisk SD card, since some people online have reported success with the new ones.

I just got the replacement today, and I immediately wanted to test a speed difference between the new and my old AR0305LR (both 256mb Sandisk SD's)
Here's the results I got for speed: (all times in mm:ss)

Copying one 3.75 MB mp3 file from built-in storage to SD card:
New AR0307NS: 0:28
Old AR0305LR: 4:23

Copying nine jpg images 2.78 MB total from built-in storage to SD card:
New AR0307NS: 1:00
Old AR0305LR: 4:18

That was enough to satisfy me that the speed is much better on the new card. Next I tried all four of your "HappyCheeseCake tests" on the new card. (My old card failed on test 1) I performed all tests as you requested, also with the axim set on 400mHz normal mode. Here's my results:

Test#      Result     Time elapsed
 1          Pass        3:14
 2          Pass        2:30
 3          Pass       23:39
 4          Pass       ~5:00 (I didn't start the timer correctly)

I'll also attach some screen shots I took for tests 4 and 5.

If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help.
-Wayne Pfeiler
