The Future
INTRODUCTION
‘What is the world coming to?’ With warnings about climate change and impending natural disaster, with such things as 9/11 and the increasing terrorist threat, with mad dictators and with unstable economies etc. this is a question that many people must be asking these days. The bible has much to say in answer to this question and this study is intended to help us understand what it is saying. You will need to have a bible available to refer to. Many Christians believe that Jesus is coming back to earth one day, but it is probable that very few in the church have any real understanding of where we are in God’s prophetic time scale or what His return entails. The return of Jesus is the biggest single subject in the Bible and Jesus Himself spoke more about His return than anything else, and yet it seems to be the least taught subject in the church. It may be that this is because the subject is a difficult one and open to many conflicting interpretations, so it is easier just to leave it alone. However Jesus Himself said that we were not to be taken by surprise and He gave us many signs so that we could recognise the season of His return. To ignore what the Bible has to say is like burying our heads in the sand, with the result that we will be taken completely by surprise as events overtake us.
