LINCOLNSHIRE COUNTY AMATEUR SWIMMING ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL REPORT OF HON MASTERS
SECRETARY 2008
The
County masters' championship, held in October this year was the usual
enjoyable
gala. Entries were up on last year and
relay events contested by
most clubs.
This year saw the introduction of a 100m freestyle which was
well
supported by swimmers. Again my
sincerest thanks to Guy and members of
Boston ASC for their help and
special thanks to the officials. There
were
seven new Championship records set by Paul Allen, Helen Eke, Roger Fountain,
Judith
Kiely and two by Rita Baxter. Gainsborough bettered the
existing
record for the 200yrs plus medley relay.
The
Carol Patch Trophy was won by Lincoln Vulcans (138) not far behind were
Gainsborough
(129), Boston (116), Grantham (92), Louth
(41), Spalding (25)
and Lincoln Pentaqua (21). For the first time the trophy was presented at
the gala
which added excitement and a fitting end to the occasion.
The
East\West Midland gala which forms part of the National Inter county
competition was held at Braunstone.
The competition gets tougher each year
and we were placed seventh out of
eight teams. Our national position is
yet to
be announced. Rita Baxter, Oliver Petts and Helen Eke had top three
placings
and many swimmers improved on their ranking times. The gala was
much
enjoyed with a very good team spirit.
