REVIEW OF 2009
CHAMPS |
All the problems encountered that were stated in the letter put on the County Web site and given out with programmes at the Galas on 21st March were discussed at length. The last gala on 28th March also had a lane rope break, the carabinas holding the ropes into the wall are not to Health and Safety requirements, lane markers on the ropes are in the wrong positions, and the on-line recording was still not working. Thanks must go to all Officials (White & Blue) who coped well under very difficult conditions with a special mention for the recorders who manually input all of the times. The warm up worked well with clubs cooperating with each other.Next year seating on the spectator side wll not be full length rows but 4 rows divided in half to help access. It was agreed that there will be a rule change to allow swimmers to swim down without their coach present. The host club to provide 2 officials to cover swim down along with the chief warm up steward and lifeguards must be present. The finals to remain in the same place in the programme and no breaks before they are swum. There is no prize for winning the ‘B’ skins final as the swimmers who come 2nd – 8th in the ‘A’ final receive nothing. Food for officials to be looked at for next year. |

MEDALS |
There has been a problem with the company that we obtain the medals from this year and we have been overcharged by over £600. It was decided to move the contract from this firm to one in Lincoln who have provided a much cheaper quote for the same medals. There will also be a review of the medals we present as we have not changed the design for many years. The stock that we have paid for that is currently held at the supplier in Bradford we will ask to be returned as it was also felt in the current economic climate that they should not be holding over £1000 of items that we have already paid for. A catalogue will be available at the next meeting for comments. There will also be a change in the trophies awarded for Bagcat winners. This to yet be decided. It was also mentioned that the Bagcat winners salvers will be available at the next County Exec meeting but the certificates will not be ready in time. |

VENUE & DATES
FOR 2010 |
The provisional dated for next year are February 13th & 14th for long distance and March 13th, 20th and 27th for the main galas. Grantham pool to be booked for these, but not necessarily used. Dave has agreed to ring other County organisations to see if we can join them in swimming our long distance events in a 50m pool. Louth pool will hopefully be open by then and we would like to move at least 1 gala to that pool, and Deepings & South Lincs have been asked if they would host long distance events in the event that long course facilities are not available. They could then possibly be held over 2 Saturdays earlier in the day, |

AOB |
Dave stated that the trophies were being returned in a filthy condition. It was agreed that the swimmers be given a letter re the condition we expect them to be returned in. If this fails we will consider imposing a fine. He also mentioned that swimmers do not come when called for presentations. It was decided that the morning events will be presented in the afternoon prior to the competition commencing. It was agreed that disabled swimmers be allowed entry to next years competition. There will be no consideration time for them, they will swim in the heat relevant to their entry time. Computer programme will be needed to sort results by classification. There will also be a need for there to be suitably qualified officials to be available. Concern was expressed that inadequate warning had been received regarding an apparent rule change regarding swimmers costumes. If the County Secretary had been made aware of this in the days leading up to Galas 5 & 6 advice could have been given to all Clubs in advance. As it was some swimmers were obliged to purchase new costumes on the day of the gala. It subsequently transpired that the information provided on 21st March to the Meet Manager was incorrect as the rule change is not being implemented until later this year. The secretary is looking into having all entries submitted electronically. In the terms and conditions of the meet Guy has asked that if there is a swimmer submitting a split time all details must be stated on the form. All agreed. Graham also asked that the entry form state that there may be videoing and photography at the galas and anyone with any objections should state this on the entry form. The secretary has suggested that there are 2 closing dates this year. They will be December 19th for the long distance swims and 16th January for the main galas. All agreed. |
