North Meols is a district to the north of present day Southport, a popular seaside resort previously in Lancashire but now in Merseyside, UK.
Before the mid 1850s the main occupations in North Meols were fishing and farming and the most common surnames were Wright, Rimmer, Johnson, Ball, Blundell and Howard. Because the Wright name is so common it can be very difficult to trace one's ancestors earlier than 1800.
One of the purposes of this web page is to invite any Wrights from North Meols to contact me and place their own family history on this site so that linkages may be established between families locally, nationwide and perhaps worldwide.
Any family trees sent to me should follow the format of mine on the following page. Files can be sent to me via e-mail. Please include your e-mail address so that interested people can contact you direct.
I am a member of the North Meols Family History Society which meets on the third Thursday of each month at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints which is at the corner of Preston New Road and North Road, Churchtown. The secretary is Jane Scarisbrick
