Surfing Surprise
My name is Susan Moore and not long ago mainly by chance, I stumbled upon John Wright's web site. Having quite an uncommon maiden name of Garstang, I was interested to see if I could trace any relations past or present, and so after typing in my surname and a couple of other family names I was surprised and delighted to find my grandma Alice at the bottom of John Wright's family history page. It was definitely her as she had married William Walter Garstang in Widnes, and if I needed any further confirmation, I could identify the old gentleman with the white bushy beard on the Wright Photos page as my great grandfather, who I share with John.
John had invited anyone connected with his family to get in touch, so I emailed him and he of course was pleased to meet another great grandchild of James Wright. Best of all I was able in due course, to send him pictures of our great grandfather's family and also of his grandparents and their children (one of course being his father). He in turn filled in a few gaps for me for example the Lytham St Annes connection. My grandma often talked of people she knew there, and of course I now know that it was her brother's family. Below is my picture of James Wright and his wife and children. My grandma is the little girl on the left, she being the youngest. It amuses me to see two of the boys proudly displaying their prize chickens, they must have been important members of the household to make the family portrait. Also on the next page is a picture of James with one of his sons, and I presume daughter-in law.
