An elegant, finely worked penwork box. On the lid is depicted a country house in a rural setting. The front and back of the box are decorated with a grapevine motif and the two sides show dramatic landscapes framed by grapevine borders.
The box dates from around 1840 but is missing the lock and has undergone several earlier alterations including replacement hinges. It has also been relined. The condition otherwise is good. Dimension: 9 1/2 inches long by 6 1/2 wide.
