Sticky rock 2000 (Skegness) 26-28th May

Sun, Sea and Scooters. RIGHT, NO wrong VERY wrong. Showers, Storms and Scooters would be more precise. When I say it rained, I mean IT rained. Skegness's water supply shut down for Saturday, but on the campsite we did not have to worry as we had the towns share. Scooterists will hog everything!

Apart from living on a marsh, the rally was surprisingly well attended, despite the downpours on the drive up. On the drive up about 30 miles out of Skeggy we met two ducks… urmm, I mean scooterists, soaked through to the bone we offered them a short stay in the most sensible van we choose to take (very small smile), and a dry coat to swap into, we took the luggage and then followed those two candle lit lammys with our high beam so they could see where they were going. Well that was all Friday night, apart from watching Brian, Kevin and Tom trying to set up tents in the wind and rain… WHAT a sight. (Where were Rachel and me… in the van of course).

Saturday we all got up saw a few friendly faces and then thought bugger this and found a brill café in skeggy that done the biggest brekkie you have ever set eyes on. They done food/breakfast on site but sorry East Lincs but the café was warmer. After that back to the site for a wander, met up with a few of the Mad Mods and Englishmen (wolfie, rusty + Mrs., ozzie Paul and frank), London Vikings, and a few new faces as well. A few pints, (whom I kidding A FEW!) to prime ourselves for the band.

The Tonics were the band for Saturday daytime and wow what a band, to say they were good would be an understatement. The excitement of all that sent us back to the van for a short rest (actually it was time to sober up), once RESTED, it was straight back to the marquee for more, beer, bands and northern soul. The main tent boasted the talents of the east lincs own band The New Deal who are definitely a band to be heard, and then a bit later on the Selector were on stage, totally packing out the room. The smaller large tent (you have to see them to understand) was northern soul.

The DJ's spinning out all the hits had the dance floor packed all night. While on the dance floor divvy Red here (Sharon or otherwise known as me) saw a bull terrier and thought I would be a good idea to say hello (one dog to another) which was a very bad move hence the MUD I keep on mentioning was all over the dog that then decided to accost me, making it that I was then covered in MUD as well (how impressed was I!) the night pretty much ended for me after that but I will let Kevin fill you in on that as I don't remember very much. But I can say everyone appeared to be having a great time in their drunken stupors including the SAWDUST CAESARS.

The reason that Sharon's night pretty much ended was down to the STUPIDTY of just one individual who nearly ruined many lives that night. What happened was someone dropped some drugs in to her drink and to say that she had an adverse effect to them would be an understatement. One Minute she was fine the next she was out cold and not breathing. So after a worried and furtive phone call to the ambulance service (who can we thank as they responded very very quickly to the call) and Tom doing his Army training first aid "fuck she has stopped breathing what do we do" and then proceeding to chat up the female paramedic driver off to Skegness Hospital we all went.

After a brief stopover in the Hospital, which was nice, as it was WARM, DRY and comfortable compared to the tents, Sharon came round and was given the all clear by the doctors and very very nice nurses (aren't uniforms wonderful). Then the nurse noticed that Tom was wearing a toe ring on his foot (this was due to the fact he was naked apart from a pair of boxers, and Rachel's rent-a-parka!) and she asked the question we all wondered is he??? And why did he leave the RAF hehehe

So back to the campsite and the rain and the mud we went all feeling a little bit better apart from Sharon who still looked like shit but then again have you seen her first thing in the morning?.

A WORD OF WARNING: On Sunday we were informed by members from the East Lincs SC that this is not a one off happening so far it has happened at a few of the National Rallies this year. Again we cannot state how true this is but be careful next time on the rally and please do not let it spoil your Drinking I mean fun !!!
