Well for a change this year we could not have asked for a beter day out. The weather was superb, hot, sunny just right for riding a scooter which i think helped sweel the numbers to cat least double the amount of last years. Anyway afer meeting up at the usual meeting place for a change we all left on time !!!!!! to get to Hyde Park. FOr once we had a rather uneventful journey as (for anyone who knows sit down before continuing to read) NO-ONE broke down !! and yep we made it too the park with time to spare to wander around and meet with people. Which reminds me OI SPIDER where are our drinks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When we got to the park there was a large turnout of scooters and people ther which was good to see. For a change as well the was not as many plastic fantastics there either, meebe the owners didn't want them to melt. As we were wandering we bumped into to Harvey from scootering and all i can say is that even if you do get your tits out on film that is not a guarenteed picture in Scootering well not if your me !! Sone though word went round and people started to fire up their engines, turning the air into smoke with that lovely two stroke smell.
Here it came our first Problem off the day and yep it was a lammie that had the prob. Tatty's scoot just wouldn't start, then losing the kick start just made matters surely worse !! After a spot of tinkering on the duberry that connects to the thingy the what da call it worked and his scoot started. So at the back me, Brian and Tatty pulled off to catch up with everyone else and the mebers of our club. Unfortunately due to the split within the Mad Mods and englishmen SC the organization was not as good as it was the previous year, there were no marshalls and the was no help for the broken down scoots ! but that didn't spoil our day. So off we went heading to Traflgur square and from there onto the embankment, to head out along what i thought was through the city to the A13, all the way to Canvey Island. All the while through the city all you could see were camera getting whipped out, flashes going off and video's being panned. Funny how most seem to be Japanese as well !!!
After a brief open bit of tarmac on the A13 and a few trips completly around the roundabouts in our way off we all went. Then disaster Roadworks, Traffic completely at a standstill with very little room to manouver around. Every where you looked were scooters trying to get past the cars, as well as every hole you went for someone always beat you to itor was thaqt just me ?
As we stopped for som fuel we discovered that we had lost a few members of our club, no-one knew where they were. Oh well so off we trundled up the road ontowards Canvey Island. As the road opened and the traffic got lighter it was great to see all these scooters just heading down the road like one long snake. The sun glittering off the chrome of the Moddy scooters or was it their mirrors !!!
After about 1.5 hrs we pulled into Canvey Island well me and tatty, where everyone else was we didn't know till we were parking up and saw Sharon waving to us like a women possesed. So there we were realxing in the sun looking at the scoots, meeting up with ppl we hadn't seen for a while and stuffing ourselves full of liquids and food ! Then the time came to leave and head for home.
Again on the way back it was another uneventful trip with only one problem of my rear Wheel Bearing deciding to go, and being limited to doing about 20 mph at the most for at least a quater of the journey home. Though one thing has come to the clubs attention is the LACK of breakdown we now have maybe summing to do with less Lambretta now ! Especially after seein so many on the side of the road this day !
