What we did on our holidays by Karin and sue
Monday 30th July 2001
Set off at a quarter past seven
from Karin’s House because sue was really excited she couldn’t sleep so came
early
it was a long journey but we
got to Cwmtydu at about a quarter past 12
When we got there Steve was making
homemade bread
and it smelt really good
then we Went to the beach with
Steve and Lizzie was in the café when
she came out
we built Stonehenge on the beach
because it was very stony and Karin got a sunburnt shoulder
We Picked lots of
raspberries and had vegetable stew cooked outside for dinner and the
raspberries for afters
Went to beach again and it was really
exciting it was like watching a soap on the tele like eastenders or coronation
street
First There were some very drunk
people with lots of dogs and music in their car and some children who were
having a bBQ
Then someone on a canoe had to
rescue a football that went in the sea and they fell off and lost the paddle
but a swimmer helped and a seal was there it might have wanted to play with the
ball
And then 3 boys climbed up the
hill but couldn’t get down again
We Went home at sunset
it was about 9 o’clock
Tuesday 31st July 2001
Got up early and went to New Quay
and bought lots of clothes. Karin got
trousers and jumpers Sue got shorts and T-shirts but no flip-flops. Got some Welsh stamps with dragons on from
the Post Office and expensive batteries for Karin’s camera, as each one was the
same price as the trousers!
The Weather was really
misty to start with but by the afternoon glorious sunshine so we weeded the
path and then went to the beach – the long zig zag way it was very tiring.

Went for a Swim in the
sea but it was very choppy water and got bruises on our legs from the big
stones!
dinner was outside again and we started
with Avocado then a wonderful vegetable curry cooked by Steve followed by Ice
Cream and lemon smashed jelly
Went back to the to beach again
and built big big tower
8 or 9 divers appeared and seemed
to be rescuing one of them from the sea.
we got quite worried but it turned out to be a practice because they
then rescued a second person
Went home a bit earlier just
before sunset
Wednesday 1st August 2001
Got up earlyish it was overcast
but not cold. Drove to Newcastle Emlyn
and walked around the ruined castle it was very quiet. We bought lots more clothes, Sue got some
socks and Karin got 3 pairs trousers
went to a bookshop and got a
Dragon stamp for Lizzie and sketchpad for Karin then Got a new watch battery
for Karin as well
Had a mid morning snack in lovely
café. Sue had enormous double bacon
baguette and Karin had a Danish pastry and great mugs of tea
We Then went on to Canarth and saw
the Coracle centre, church, smithy and waterfall but there was not much water
in the waterfalls but the Sun was out by this time.
Got back & went to beach for
swim – really calm and Sue went out to rocks at end of cove on the left hand
side. Bought sandals from Martin for
the beach but turned out to be 2 right feet!!!
Karin got sunburned neck.
Home for dinner outside again of
Corn beef, salad with feta from the garden, coleslaw from the garden, beetroot
from the garden and curried rice followed by
Raspberries (not many left by now) and ice cream.
Went to beach and it was very
quiet and calm so we built a stone castle
Thursday 2nd August 2001
Got up it was Supposed to be thunderstorms but just a bit
drizzly.
Sue & Lizzie went ‘round the
block’ while Karin did some cross-stitch.
Steve was finding out about the
computer that was damaged in a storm and should have it back next week- hurrah
can be back on email then
Then we went to Abereron and Karin
had hazelnut & honey ice cream. Then
we went on to New Quay where Karin got her flip-flops and some joss sticks
Back for lunch then to Cardigan
for photos but the ones sue took of the garden didn’t come out very well so she needs to redo them. Dinner was melon starter followed by pasta
and Steve’s tomato sauce (made with garden herbs) followed by apricots, figs,
grapes & cheese.
Went to beach – castle still there
with another one build mirror image behind it.
Very strange sunset
you can see that there are two suns which is the real one? Or are
they both real – spooky aye?
Friday 3rd August 2001
Went for walk up the steep
footpath which was had been newly cleared on Wednesday
Said goodbye to the seaside and
Lizzie who was in the café and bought some carrot cake
Then left at about quarter to one
Got back to Sues at 5-ish because
there was some very slow traffic on the way back
Boo hoo – holiday over.
