running cat

This page is dedicated to our first ever pet, who came to live with us even before he existed.

updated December 1998

So, who or rather, what was he?

Tink came to live with us not long after we were married. He was a difficult cat, if indeed he was a cat. Late night parties, wine, women and a lot of song came with him. Typically Tom cat, he spent most of his nights out. In the early hours of the morning, we could hear the roar of his motorbike returning to the garage beneath our flat, from another long night on the tiles.

He stayed longer than we thought he would - for a couple of years in fact and then one day he decided he'd had enough of the wild life. He shaved his head, donned his robes and was last seen heading for Tibet. On his way there, we are sure he had a good time as, anywhere in the world you will find a black cat with a little bit of white on his chest, his pink tongue hanging out (particularly when he's thinking) and an evil gleam in his eye - every one a son of Tink.

After Tink we have had many more 'normal' pets (it's a matter of opinion), but he did give us a taste for the untypical. Not in any great way - we didn't pack our rucksacks and travel round the world or invent something earth shattering, but 25 years on we still seem to be slightly out of step with everyone else.

Apologies to anyone who came to these pages looking for the Tele Tubbies (as in Tinky Winky) - but you might find them interesting anyway!
