Churches
This
isn't primarily a list of church web sites. There's lots of them, and
they're not hard to find. These ones were ones I found searching for other
things.
They fall into two categories - online churches, that only exist on the internet; and church web sites of 'real' churches. Some church web sites are just a piccy of a gothic or austere Victorian building, a list of clergy or elders, and service times. Other churches have gone to town using the web as a resource for their congregations and anyone who pokes their electronic head round the door. They're the ones that I've included here.
If your church has a good website, tell me about it.
| Embody | Alternative worship site - get a random prophecy, light a virtual candle - whatever these guys think of next. |
| Vurch | "Don't go to Church - Go to Vurch" reads the blurb - Not entirely dissimilar to Embody, this is another alternative worship site that seeks ways of using modern technology in worship and contemplation. |
| Holy Joe's | Is the website of Dave Tomlinson's Church in the Pub. A place you're allowed to debate, think, disagree and have a pint of good ale. |
| Dunedin Methodist Church, New Zealand | The Practical Dreamer's Drop-In Centre. This is quite a site. Lots of worship resources - they even give you the sheet music. Also has lots of stuff on justice, sexuality, prayer, Bible reading, and links. A good one. |
| Sanctuary Church | This one advertises itself as 'non-denominational, non-fundamentalist, non-judging' which seems good to me. It does appear to be a bit of a one-leader band, but so are a lot of churches. I'd check it out if I lived in that part of the world, anyway. |
| First Church of Cyberspace | Lots of links and articles and stuff. Very varied collection, generally with a sensible and thoughtful tone. |
