James Patrick Mahan was born in Durham City 16th March 1864 and died there in 1926.

He was one of six brothers. His parents were James Mahan (1823 - 79) and Bridget Hanley (1826 - 1901+). He married twice. His first wife was Elizabeth Hanley and his second was Annie Drinnan, my grandmother. They had five children together, one of whom was my father, Archibald Drinnan Mahan.
