The Welfare of our Fish
what do we mean when we talk about the welfare of our fish. Put simply it means doing the very best at all times for the fish we are fishing for. Get yourself organized before even starting to fish, just make sure that you have at hand all of the things that you may need when you have caught your fish. This is everything including your landing net, your unhooking mat, your disgorgers and wire cutters right through to an antiseptic, just make sure that you have it all ready, as it is no good looking for things once the fish is on the unhooking mat.
If you are going to weight a fish and possibly take a few photo's then being prepared is everything and your sole aim should be to get the fish back into the water in the shortest possible time, and with the minimal of stress to it. If you are going to take a photo, then hold the fish up either over your unhooking mat or over your bed chair, that way if the fish slips from your hands then it will suffer no harm.
